Sorority Life: The Five Pillars Of Greek Life

As members of our Panhellenic communities, our sororities/fraternities may each have their own distinct standards & principles.  But we all share the same common ground when it comes to the values we believe in & strive to achieve each day:  the five pillars of Greek life.

The first pillar is sisterhood.  Joining a sorority/women’s fraternity also means becoming part of a family, discovering a home away from home which offers plenty of support, encouragement & guidance.

The second pillar is leadership.  By going Greek, women not only discover their fullest potential & become all that they can be.  They also are offered a variety of opportunities to refine & build on their leadership skills, to help them grow personally & as leaders in their college’s/university’s Greek system.

The third pillar is scholarship.  Sororities/fraternities aren’t content to just place first priority on academics – they’re also steadfastly committed to academic excellence every step of the way through such vehicles as academic resources, study tables, scholarship awards & other incentives.

The fourth pillar is philanthropy/service.  Through philanthropy & service, we’re serving as an inspiration to others around us as well as making a lasting impact for our campuses & communities.  Also, we’re making a heartfelt difference for the better, for true good!!

The fifth pillar is social.  True, sororities/fraternities may be about working hard & being serious but they’re also about having fun as well!!  Besides having good times galore, women in sororities/fraternities create plenty of lasting & precious memories at mixers, formals, retreats & gatherings!!
