Sorority Life: A True Sorority Woman

A true sorority woman is genuinely & wholeheartedly committed to living her Sorority’s/Fraternity’s principles, ideals & values in everything that she does.

A true sorority woman is a mentor, positive role model & inspiration to her chapter, her chapter’s new members, alumnae, women who are thinking about/planning on joining a Sorority/Fraternity, her college/university, other sorority women as well as her college’s/university’s Greek community.

A true sorority woman believes in making her chapter, her Sorority/Fraternity & her Greek community look good.

A true sorority woman believes that her Sorority/Fraternity gives her endless opportunities to do more, be more, care more & achieve more.

A true sorority woman believes in achieving greatness/her personal best & inspires others around her to do likewise.

A true sorority woman believes in making a positive difference/impact for her chapter, her Sorority/Fraternity, her college/university, her college’s/university’s Greek system & the world.

A true sorority woman does her part to promote the true meaning of her Sorority’s/Fraternity’s sisterhood every chance she gets.

A true sorority woman lives out her sisterhood on a daily basis, revealing to Greeks & non-Greeks alike how much she loves her Sorority/Fraternity, why she loves her Sorority/Fraternity as much as she does & how her Sorority/Fraternity is enriching/impacting her life for the better.

A true sorority woman keeps doing her part to shatter the stereotypes which non-Greeks have always held about Greek life.

A true sorority woman keeps explaining to & showing others all of the more-than-amazing things that her Sorority/Fraternity does on campus, in the local community & beyond.

A true sorority woman keeps inspiring, encouraging & empowering other women to go Greek or at least see if joining a Sorority/Fraternity is right for them.

A true sorority woman consistently strives to uphold integrity & her Sorority’s/Fraternity’s standards, expectations, principles & values in all that she does for her chapter, her Sorority/Fraternity, her college/university, her college’s/university’s Greek community, the local community & the world.

A true sorority woman genuinely strives to leave a positive impression on her chapter, her Sorority/Fraternity & her college/university through her efforts in academics, philanthropy, service, leadership development, leadership opportunities, recruitment & membership development.

A true sorority woman is continuously dedicated to realizing her fullest potential as a stronger leader, contributor, difference-maker, communicator & above all, a stronger person.

A true sorority woman wears her Sorority’s/Fraternity’s letters with pride, appreciation, respect & the utmost of care, realizing that we’re always wearing our letters.

A true sorority woman believes that she is her chapter’s – & to a much greater degree, her Sorority’s/Fraternity’s – best advertising & does her part to showcase her organization on a daily basis, not when she “wants to”/”feels like it.”

A true sorority woman sincerely believes that her Sorority/Fraternity is not exclusively for college days alone. For her & many other sorority women, her Sorority/Fraternity is a lifetime experience.

A true sorority woman does all of the above & much more: she leads by example, she lives by example & she is a outstanding example of who sorority women are, what sorority women do, what sorority women stand for & what sorority women are truly about.

Sorority Life: of love & roses – Five Years Later

Today is a pretty eventful milestone for yours truly: I am officially celebrating my fifth anniversary as a blogger. (For those who don’t know or for those who are new to my blog, of love & roses has been going strong since 2009.) At the same time, today is an opportunity for me to reflect on how far along I’ve come & how much I’ve grown as a writer who’s blogging about something which he continues to love with all his heart (particularly about sorority life). If that’s not enough, I can’t help but wonder how much my love, dedication, enthusiasm & commitment to Greek life has grown since of love & roses‘ humble beginnings.

Times have changed by leaps & bounds since I began blogging, but the primary aims behind of love & roses have remained the same & just as steadfast as ever:

1. All of the articles are written by a values-based, values-driven & values-oriented fraternity man who is also pro-Panhellenic at heart: yours truly.

2. No matter which sororities/fraternities I write about, I always make it a point to inspire & encourage Greek unity. Furthermore, I’m praising & showing my utmost appreciation for these organizations when I write my articles.

3. Whether my articles are about recruitment advice, philanthropy, inspiring others to go Greek or shining the spotlight on Sororities/Fraternities, I always showcase various aspects of Greek life in a positive, genuine, honest, accurate & heartfelt way.

4. I always present my articles about Greek life with an open-minded, vibrant, humble & unimposing approach which Greeks & non-Greeks can relate to & truly identify with.

5. Having said that, my articles about Greek life are also written from the heart, with passion, with character, with conviction, with humility & with sincerity.

6. As always, all of the articles on of love & roses are a heartfelt celebration of Greek life, primarily written from a fraternity man’s pro-Panhellenic point of view.

7. Ever since day one, my posts have always been written with one thing in mind: to praise sorority women, not to tear them down. If you’re looking for (quoting search engine terms I’ve seen in the past) “ten reasons why this or that organization is possible” or “ten reasons why I hate this or that sorority”, you’re seriously in the wrong place because there are NO posts about both of the above!! (My articles are always about putting a positive spotlight on Sororities/Fraternities.)

Here’s to five years of painting an amazing portait about sorority life, five years of showcasing sorority women in a positive light & five years of unswerving commitment to something that I truly love & believe with all my heart!!

Sorority Recruitment: If Not Us, Then Who And If Not Now, When?

(The following post is a shoutout to all of you values-driven, values-oriented sorority women out there.)

If we don’t share the good news about Greek life with women who are thinking about/planning on going Greek, who’s going to?

If we don’t take the time to share the good news about our Sororities/Fraternities with women who are wondering if Greek life is truly for them, who’s going to?

Let’s face it: It’s on each of us to get the word out about Greek life. It’s on each of us to get the word out about our Sororities/Fraternities. It’s on each of us to get the word out about all of the good things that our Sororities/Fraternities do on campus, the local community & beyond. It’s on each of us to get the word out about how our chapters are making a positive impact at our colleges/universities, for our colleges’/universities’ Greek communities, the local community & beyond. It’s on each of us to get the word out about when Formal Recruitment’s going to be as well as when & where our Formal Recruitment events are going to take place. It’s on each of us to get the word out about what to expect during the recruiting process (since who knows how many potential new members are going to be anxious about recruitment, besides being excited).

If we don’t inspire women to go Greek, who’s going to?

If we don’t encourage women to go Greek, who’s going to?

If we don’t empower women to go Greek, who’s going to?

If we don’t inspire these amazing ladies to see if Greek life is truly for them, who’s going to?

If we don’t show & prove to these amazing ladies how our chapters can inspire them to become stronger leaders, contributors & difference-makers, who’s going to?

If we don’t show & prove to these amazing women all the good/great/wonderful things that our chapters are doing, who’s going to?

If we don’t show & prove how our Sororities/Fraternities inspire women to live & lead value-oriented, values-based lives, who’s going to?

If we don’t show & prove how our Sororities/Fraternities set high & standards for excellence, who’s going to?

If we don’t show & prove how our Sororities/Fraternities inspire women to achieve their personal best in all that they do, who’s going to?

If we don’t showcase our Sororities/Fraternities – & our chapters!! – in a positive, genuine, honest & accurate way, who’s going to?

If we don’t keep proving the skeptics, doubters & detractors about Greek life wrong, who’s going to?

If we don’t get the word out about all things pertaining to Formal Recruitment, who’s going to?

If we don’t convince women that going Greek life is one of the best/most rewarding choices that they’ll ever make, who’s going to?

If we don’t make the effort to let potential new members know about our Sororities/Fraternities, who else will?

Remember to keep getting the word out about Greek life. Remember to keep inspiring, encouraging & empowering women to see if sorority life is truly for them. Remember to get the word out about our chapters. Remember to get the word out about our Sororities/Fraternities & why they’re so amazing in the first place. Remember to get the word out about Formal Recruitment & what to expect during the recruitment process. To make a long article short & to the point, remember to do all of the above. Because if we don’t do any of the above things, who else do you figure is going to? And if we don’t do these things now, when?

Keep on getting the good news out about Greek life & ourselves to the potential new members. We ALL have a job to do here.
