Delta Zeta: The Build-A-Bear Project (& How You Can Help)

For Delta Zeta’s undergraduate chapters, there are so many ways which we can help support the Sorority’s National Philanthropies.  Whether it’s doing something amazing for The Starkey Hearing Foundation, House Ear Institute, Gallaudet University or The Painted Turtle Camp, we can make a heartfelt difference & impact for those who cannot hear/are hard of hearing & for children who have chronic/life-threatening illnesses!!

The Starkey/Build-A-Bear Project is a great way for undergraduate DeeZees to make a difference & bring about change in the lives of children who have hearing problems/cannot hear.  Not only that, but we’re also bringing hope & inspiration to these children as well!!

You’re probably wondering what the main goal of the Build-A-Bear project is all about, why Delta Zeta’s undergraduate chapters should participate in a Build-A-Bear project & how your chapters can help provide bears with hearing aid attachments for children with hearing problems/impairments:

What for?   A Build-A-Bear Project is an amazing way to help the Sorority provide bears with hearing aids attachments for children who are going to be receiving a hearing aid at an upcoming Starkey Hearing Foundation Hearing Mission.

Why?  So those same children who will be receiving hearing aids can have a “furry friend just like them“!!  At the same time, we’re doing the following for these children:  bringing them hope, bringing them inspiration & most of all, truly brightening their days through giving them these bears!!

How can we help?  Buy a Bear & hearing aid accessory from Build-A-Bear.  Bears can be made right there in the store or you can purchase them online at www.buildabear.com.  (Hearing aid accessories can only be purchased online, just so everyone knows.)

How much do these items cost?  Bears cost between $10 to $25; hearing aids cost just $2.

Where do we send them?  Mail the completed bears (with hearing aids) to: Starkey Hearing Foundation, Kathleen Toms, 1245 S. Main St., Suite 200, Grapevine, TX 76051.

With The Build-A-Bear Project, Delta Zeta’s undergraduate members (as well as alumnae) get a chance to enrich the world, our communities & if that’s not enough good news, we’re truly touching the lives of children who have hearing problems (even in the slightest way).  In addition, we’re doing our part to show how the Sorority is steadfastly committed to making a difference for the better through service & philanthropy!!
